Farm/Garden Cake

My brother-in-law requested this cake for my sister-in-law's birthday.  He wanted a farm cake with chickens, a goat, and dogs (border collies specifically). Everything is edible: fudge sticks for railroad ties, pretzels for the fence, vanilla wafers for the stepping stones, crushed graham crackers for the path, and crushed chocolate teddy grahams for the dirt in the beds. All other decorations are fondant and gum paste. Vines and flowers are buttercream. The cake is dark chocolate mayonnaise cake with vanilla buttercream.

Pearl Wedding Cake

I made this cake for my cousin's wedding. She found a picture in a magazine and texted me a picture of the picture, with a warning that it had something like 300 hand-rolled fondant pearls all over it. I'm here to tell you there were many more than 300, but I couldn't stand the thought of counting them so I'll never know for sure how many there were! Thanks to Mom and Emily for their rolling skills.

The cake was almond and the icing was almond buttercream. Pearls were fondant rolled in three shades of shimmer dust.

Purple Roses
